Some people in Cordova want to bring in new mines, after the city lost some of its businesses to tornadoes.
Damage to the town on April 27th, 2011 took some businesses out of commission. But now, a public meeting is scheduled to talk about bringing strip mining to the area. Mayor Jack Scott says the mines could provide jobs and tax revenue.
His challengers in this year's election say the city should instead focus on developing its river front.
