Cases of asthma, a chronic disease of the lungs, is on the rise among children.
According to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, one in 10 children have the condition. The cases are even more prevalent among minorities.
The respiratory disease is marked by symptoms such as wheezing and difficulty breathing. Most people manage asthma with inhalers and medication. Others are resorting to more invasive procedures to open pathways in the lungs.
Tune into Focus @ 4 Thursday as we explore the potential causes of the disease as well as how it can be managed. We will also speak with a UAB pulmonologist about a recent FDA-approved therapy for the most severe of cases.
