Dog saves blind woman

TALLADEGA - AL -

Talladega's Nancy Jones has a gas leak detector in her home, but it was her poodle-- a seeing-eye dog that saved the day.

Monday, Jones was folding sheets when she became ill. Pooh, the seeing-eye dog, managed to reach over 6 feet to grab her leash.  Pooh urged Jones to put the leash on her. As soon as the leash was on, Jones says Pooh " literally dragged me out the door".

Once outside, Jones realized there was a gas leak.

"She saved my life," said Jones.

Jones, who is legally blind, got her dog almost 3 years ago from Pilot Dog, Inc. The Ohio-based non-profit provides highly trained dog guides to blind individuals at absolutely no cost to the recipient.
