Neighbors, family and former co-workers all say Boyd is a quiet man. So being a suspect in a fatal shooting seems odd to those who have met him.
Police officers are now questioning Fred Boyd. He's a suspect that may have been involved in a fatal shooting Monday morning. This alarming news has his family, former co workers and nearby residents perplexed. They say, "It was just disturbing"
The oldest of 3 children, Boyd grew up in Hobson city, with dreams of being a police officer. That dream became a reality. Boyd served more than 15 years as a officer with the Anniston police department.
"It's weird because you never know, you don't know what causes people to snap these days," says neighbor Donna Farley.
Family members didn't want to speak on camera, but say Boyd was in high school when he met his future wife. But her life was cut short. Now family, friends, and former co-workers who say Boyd was a good person say, the good guy just snapped.
Farley says, "Just last week, we had the Colorado incident you know it's, you just don't know what people are thinking these days..."
Boyd does have a 15 yr old son, family members say he's currently with his grandmother in Anniston.
