The city of Alabaster is involved in a federal lawsuit. The South Central Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists accuses the city of illegally restricting it and other religious groups from doing door-to-door solicitations. The ordinance bars solicitations unless they register and pay license fees. A member of the church's summer student missionary program was ticketed for selling books door-to-door without a permit.
