Northport's Police Chief Robert Green is no longer in charge. Sources tell ABC 33/40 Green turned in his retirement on July 1st.
Green's departure comes on the heals of a four month inquiry initiated by City Council into the police department.
Details of the findings which were conducted by a hired outside agency are to be released during this evenings council meeting.
The source tells ABC 33/40 that information in the report will lead to serious management questions within the Police department and perhaps criminal investigations.
City officials have declined to comment prior to the release of the report this evening.
Green, however, was placed on leave in February by city council while the overall study of the department was being conducted.
