Study: Parents pulling back on college spending

Posted: Updated:

College has never been cheap.  These days, it's mind boggling for many families to even begin to figure out how to pay for it.

Some families have implemented some cost-savings strategies.

For example, students are choosing less expensive schools.  The shift toward two year colleges was evident for the second straight year.

More students are living at home just to make ends meet, and fewer young people have credit cards.

The findings come from an annual study released by Sallie Mae, the nation's largest student lender.
