Purina Beneful's Dream Dog Park was unleashed in Alabaster's Veterans Park Thursday to a crowd of hundreds and their four-legged best friends.
Alabaster resident Jenny Wilson won the Dream Dog Park contest after she submitted an essay and video of what she and her rescue dog, Honeybelle, would want a $500,000 dream dog park to look like.
"My hope is just that everybody can use this park for the way it was intended," said Wilson. "And that's to celebrate the bond between a dog and their owner."
Construction on the park began several months ago to include splash pads, a walking course, a miniature football field, and more.
Eric Stonestreet, Emmy Award-winning actor and an actor on ABC's hit show Modern Family, was at the ceremony to kick off another year of the contest.
"This is the first time I've ever been in a dream dog park, and I've got to tell you, it feels pretty good," Stonestreet said.
