Jasper police say skull found is consistent with elderly white female

Posted: Updated:

Jasper police tell ABC 33/40 that a Montgomery forensic pathologist said a human skull found in a house is consistent with an elderly white female of small stature.

Police reopened a missing person cold case after a man found the skull in a crawl space beneath a house in North Jasper on Live Oak Place Sunday.

Two elderly women, Wynona Delvecchio, 83, and Mary Cobb, 104, lived in the South Lowell community. The mother and daughter were reported missing in 2003.

Police said Wanda Kiser, a former neighbor and person of interest in the case, took Cobb from a nursing home to the house and was later sentenced on a wire fraud charge in West Virginia involving Cobb's pension fund.

Cadaver dogs will search the property Saturday.
