It could cost more than $20,000 to repair flood damage to Thompson High School's weight and locker rooms caused by Monday's storms.
School officials said when the heavy rains flooded a storm drain near the training facility, water began to flow down concrete stairs. Eventually, water pressure forced the facility's door to open, and water poured inside.
Shelby County Schools Assistant Superintendent Tom Ferguson said the school is covered under the district's insurance. He said the facility will be repaired before school starts.
