Alabama
quarterback AJ McCarron and running back Eddie Lacy are both on the Maxwell
Award watch list for 2012.
The 64-man list was released on Monday by the Maxwell Football Club.
The award is given to the nation's best college football player.
Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck won the award last year.
McCarron started all 13 Alabama games last season.
The redshirt junior threw for 2,634 yards, 16 touchdowns and had only five
interceptions.
In 2011, Lacy carried the ball 95 times for 674 yards and seven touchdowns.
The junior missed all of the spring season because of a toe injury but is
expected to be fully healed.
Semifinalists
for the Maxwell Award will be announced on Oct. 29, with the three finalists
announced on Nov. 19.
