Casino developer Ronnie Gilley is now making a pitch to stay out of prison.
Gilley pleaded guilty to a role in a scheme to buy votes on a bingo bill. He could get up to 20 years in prison. But Gilley's attorney has filed court papers requesting six months of home confinement, three years of supervised release, and lots of community service.
The filing say Gilley is a visionary who can transform his BamaJam music festival into a tourist attraction that will spawn hotels and even a golf course.
The filing says Gilley can't do that when he's in prison.
