A debate over spanking children heats up after the nation's largest Presbyterian denomination says the practice is wrong. Delegates to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) narrowly passed a resolution that calls for an end to the practice of corporal punishment in homes, schools and child care facilities. Fifty-one percent of the church leaders supported the measure while 47 percent voted against it. Focus @ 4 spoke with a local pastor within the denomination who says spanking is a form of violence against children. But another local Presbyterian pastor says mild spanking is biblically-sound.
