Teenagers get the right to vote

According to the U.S. Census, in 2004, 80% or more of 18, 19, and 20 year old Americans voted.

None of those votes would have been possible without the 26th amendment which lowered the voting age in this country from 21 to 18.

President Richard Nixon signed the amendment into law on this day in 1971.
