A 55-year-old man was shot Wednesday morning near Village Springs in northern Jefferson
County. Deputies were dispatched to a home in the 8600 block of Old Highway 75 to investigate a report of a shooting. Deputies arrived to find the 55-year-old victim lying in the driveway. The initial investigation revealed that the victim and a second man, Shornel Stringer, had been arguing. Stringer reportedly pulled a hand gun and shot the victim one time.
Deputies say Stringer drove off in a 1964-65 red Chevrolet Impala. The victim, whose name has not been released, was transported to UAB Hospital where he underwent surgery. His condition is not known at this time.
Stringer remains at large. He is described as a 36-year-old black male 5'11" and 250 pounds. Anyone who knows where he is or has any information about this case is asked
