Gadsden rape suspect in custody

GADSDEN - AL -

27-year old Phillip Browning is in the Etowah County Detention Center charged with first degree rape.

Browning is alleged to have helped a stranded female driver at a gas station on Meighan Blvd. back on June 24. The victim alleges Browning followed her to her home in Tidmore Bend and raped her.

Browning was found at a house in Blount County and positively identified in a lineup by the victim.
