Seventy-five years ago on this day pilot Amelia Earhart and her navigator disappears as she attempted to become the first female pilot to circumnavigate the globe.

All these decades later, scientists still want to solve the mystery of what happened. As of today, the International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery began searching some waters of the Pacific.
