Johnson & Johnson is awaiting approval for the first new medicine to fight deadly tuberculosis in more than four decades.

The experimental drug called, Bedaquiline also would be the first drug to treat multi drug resistant tuberculosis.

TB that is resistant to at least two of the four TB drugs is on the rise.

Tuberculosis, which is caused by a bacterial infection of the lungs and other body parts, is the world's number two killer of adults among infectious diseases.
