
Anderson Cooper decided today was the day he would tell the world he's gay. He "came out" in a letter online saying quote "the fact is, I'm gay". Cooper said he had kept his sexual orientation private for personal and professional reasons, but came to think that remaining silent had given some people an impression that he was ashamed. He said he couldn't be any more happy and comfortable with himself.
There were plenty of tears last night at the BET awards. The emotional highlight of night came as Cissy Houston sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water" in tribute to her late daughter, Whitney. The performance left Beyonce, Melanie Fiona and many others sobbing. Mariah Carey, Brandi and Chaka Khan also performed tributes to the legendary singer.
The unprecedented Olympic-team runoff between Allyson Felix and Jeneba Tarmoh is off. Tarmoh conceded her spot on the Olympic team in the one-hundred meter race, rather than race against her training partner. The two tied for third place at the Olympic trials. USA track and field had no contingency plan for such a tie. Tarmoh will be an alternate.
One of Michael Jordan's sons is in trouble with the law in Nebraska. Marcus Jordan, who plays basketball for Central Florida, was arrested in Omaha early Sunday following a disturbance outside a downtown hotel. Police say he was arguing with two women and was "very animated, intoxicated and uncooperative." He is charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and obstructing justice.
