The Birmingham Zoo is honoring veterans.

The zoo is treating active and retired military and their dependents to free admission July second through fourth. Veterans will have to show a valid military identification.

There will also be an Independence Day celebration for the zoo's three hogs. The hogs - Star, Spangle and Banner were all born on July 4, 2006.
