The City of Bessemer is offering another way to get relief from the heat for the elderly.
It kicked off its annual summer ''fan'' drive.
The Bessemer police department is offering free fans to senior citizens who don't have one.
It's during these hot days that police respond to many heat related calls for the elderly.
You have to be 65 or older to get a fan and not have access to a fan or air-conditioning.
You can pick them up at any of the three cooling centers in Bessemer. The Bessemer police department, Bessemer Civic Center and City hall.
