Celebrating Independence Day at the Zoo

Posted: Updated:

If you are looking for a way to celebrate Independence Day, the Birmingham Zoo is offering a place to gather.  You can visit the zoo during the Fourth of July to see the animals and take part in all the activities happening at the zoo.

In honor of our nation's birthday, all active and retired military and their dependents get free admission to the Zoo on July 2nd, 3rd and 4th with valid military identification. There will also be a birthday celebration for the Zoo's three African Red River Hogs on July 4th at 1:30pm. Star, Spangle and Banner are sisters who were born on July 4, 2006. During the celebration, guests can learn interesting facts about Red River Hogs through an educational keeper chat and watch as Star, Spangle and Banner receive patriotic enrichment birthday gifts.

Since it is so hot, you may be looking for a way to cool down also.  You and the children can play in the Foam Zone.  For more information about the Birmingham Zoo, please visit www.birminghamzoo.com
