Birmingham resident Aimee Bruder will compete in the 2012 Paralympic Games in London in August.
This will be the swimmer's sixth time competing in the games and her sixth time representing her country.
"It's everything. It's an amazing feeling. The lights, the excitement, it truly is an amazing experience," said Bruder.
Bruder has competed in Beijing, Athens, Sydney, Atlanta and Barcelona, winning five medals in all.
The 37-year-old was 15 when she competed in her first Paralympic Games and thinks it's special to still be in the mix.
"I think after this last one I realized I'm still pretty good, because if you're 37 and you're still doing this and you're beating teenagers like I did this past weekend, I think I'm still kind of in there," Bruder said.
Bruder will be competing in the 50-meter backstroke.
The Paralympic Games will begin on August 29.
