Shooting death of Birmingham man ruled justifiable homicide

The Jefferson County District Attorney's office has ruled the shooting death of 22-year old Mitchell Hamby as a "justifiable homicide."

Hamby was shot and killed Friday, June 22, at 3:30 p.m. at 47^th Street and Terrace S in Ensley. The DA determined that the shooter was acting in self-defense.

A suspect who was taken into custody has been released without facing charges.
