Geese from Birmingham parks to be exterminated

BIRMINGHAM - AL -

Geese in three Birmingham city parks will lose their lives this summer.  The city plans to exterminate geese in three parks near the airport.

The extermination is a joint effort between Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, USDA Wildlife Services, and the city's park department.

A roundup will happen on night this month or in July.  The airport says the roundup is aimed at safety for planes and passengers at the airport.

The parks include Avondale, East Lake and Patton.
