NASHVILLE - TN -

Calhoun County sheriff Larry Amerson is not injured after an explosion at a hotel where he was being honored.  A sheriff's association event was being held in his honor when the blast happened.  Unconfirmed reports say the explosion happened in a mechanical room at the hotel.  This statement was made on the Sheriff's office Facebook page:

"There has been an explosion at the Opryland convention center within 100 yards of a reception being held to honor Sheriff Amerson's induction as the 71st President of the National Sheriff's Association. No one was injured and all of our party has evacuated safely. The cause of the explosion is unknown."
