With funding cuts and job losses, fire departments are felling the brunt of a tough economy. But one organization is trying to ease the pain. Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation donated ten sets of turnout gear to the Westover City Fire Department. The protective gear improves the safety of response teams during life-threatening situations. The gear is worth more than $19,000. Since 2005, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has donated more than $353,000 to public safety entities in Alabama.
