Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, better known as ADHD is a chronic condition that affects millions of children. It is three times more common in boys than girls.
The symptoms include: hyperactivity, impulsive behavior and difficulty focusing.
Drugs are often prescribed, and a new study finds that's truer than ever. According to an article in the journal Pediatrics, although pediatric prescriptions have been declining, prescriptions for ADHD increased by 46% from 2002 to 2010.
That's about 800,000 new prescriptions a year.
