While some nationally may not see an Oklahoma City/Miami NBA Finals as a ratings boon, the number both nationally and locally has been solid.
Tuesday night's Game 1 victory by the Thunder drew an 11.8 overall rating -- the highest ever for a Game 1 on ABC, according to Nielsen. The highest rating of 14.1 came during the fourth quarter as the Thunder pulled away for a 105-94 victory over the visiting Heat.
In Tulsa, the game drew an overall 27.7 household rating and a 40.9 share. The peak here also came during the fourth quarter, with the audience reaching a 35.1 rating and 53 share.
But, so far, football continues to reign supreme in Oklahoma. By comparison, last December's Bedlam game, also on Tulsa's Channel 8, drew a 40.2 rating and 59.6 share.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are in the NBA Finals for the first time since the team relocated from Seattle and are the favorite to win the championship.
Game 2 in the best-of-seven series is scheduled for an 8 p.m. tip-off Thursday night. All games of the series will be shown on Tulsa's Channel 8.
