The number of Americans suffering from asthma is at an all-time high.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it saw a significant jump in asthma patients from 2001 to
2010. in 2010, one out of every 12 Americans were living with the disease.
Asthma is a chronic disorder with no known cure. A person's
airflow is periodically obstructed due to inflammation and the contraction of
tiny muscles around the airway.
Patients are encouraged to work with their
doctors in creating and following an action plan to respond to and prevent flair
ups.
