Oklahoma State continued its winning ways at home Sunday afternoon as the 25th-ranked Cowboys completed a three-game sweep of Alcorn State with a 12-2 triumph at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
With the win, the Cowboys improved to 32-19 on the season, which includes a 24-4 mark on their home field.
Randy McCurry picked up the win for OSU as the junior right-hander racked up a career-high eight strikeouts in seven innings of work. He allowed two runs on five hits and issued a pair of walks as he improved to 4-2 on the season.
Eight of the nine players in the OSU starting lineup finished with RBIs, and a trio of Cowboys collected two hits apiece, with Saulyer Saxon, Robbie Rea and Trey Whaley reaching that mark.
For the second-straight game, OSU fell behind early against Alcorn State (17-35). In the third inning, the Braves scored their only runs of the contest, getting RBI singles from Eduardo Gonzalez and Jann Butler to take a 2-0 lead against McCurry.
But the Braves' lead was short lived as OSU took control of the scoreboard in the fourth inning with a seven-run rally that saw the Cowboys send 11 batters to the plate and collect six hits.
Rea got the scoring started with a sacrifice fly, and an RBI double by McCurry tied the score at 2-2. Mark Ginther broke the tie with an RBI single through the left side, and the Cowboys added a run on the play on an Alcorn State error. Up next, Wes Jones delivered a two-RBI double to make the score 6-2, and Saulyer Saxon's second single of the inning brought home the final run of the rally.
The Cowboys added five insurance runs over the next two innings, crossing the plate three times in the fifth and twice in the sixth to cruise to the win.
OSU concludes the regular season with four games this week. The Cowboys travel to Dallas to take on Dallas Baptist Tuesday at 4 p.m. before hosting Texas A&M in a huge Big 12 Conference series beginning Thursday night in Stillwater.
