After the opening hours of undrafted free agent signings, The University of Tulsa's G.J. Kinne, Damaris Johnson and Tyrunn Walker have agreed to NFL free agent contracts.
Kinne is an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets. Johnson will be with the Philadelphia Eagles and Walker with the New Orleans Saints.
A 6'2" three-year starting quarterback, Kinne completed 63.3 percent of his passes for 3,090 yards and 28 touchdowns while also rushing for 405 yards and three TDs in his senior season. Kinne earned second-team all-Conference USA honors in 2012 after being named the C-USA Offensive Player of the Year as a junior. He was also a three-time C-USA All-Academic selection.
Kinne completed his career second in school history for total offense yards (10,831), passing yards (9,472) and TD passes thrown (81). He became the only player in school history to pass for more than 6,000 yards and run for more than 1,000 yards. Kinne rushed for 1,359 yards and 15 touchdowns in his career to register the second-most rushing yards for a quarterback in school history.
Johnson, who did not play in the 2011 season, was a three-year letterwinner and starter at receiver from 2008-10 and also handled kickoff and punt returns. He finished his three seasons as the NCAA's all-time record-holder for all-purpose yards with 7,796 yards and for career kickoff return yardage with 3,417 yards. He led the nation as a sophomore in 2009 (224.4 ypg) and junior in 2010 (202.2 ypg) for all-purpose yardage. Johnson caught a pass in all 39 career games, and had 150 plays go for over 20 yards in his career. He set the school's career KOR record against East Carolina in the 2010 season opener on his third return.
The 5'8" receiver totaled 2,746 career receiving yards on 188 receptions to rank fourth on the school's career chart. Johnson also had 1,062 career rushing yards. He totaled 29 career TDs –– 17 receiving, 8 rushing, two KOR and two punt return, while turning in 19 career 200+ all-purpose yard games. Johnson had 14 career games of 100+ KO return yards, 11 100+ receiving games and 19 career 200+ all-purpose yardage games.
Walker (6'3", 294) played two years as a defensive end at Tulsa after transferring from Jones County (Miss.) Junior College and is a native of New Iberia, Louisiana. He played and started in all 26 career games at Tulsa. Walker tallied 84 tackles, 25.5 stops for -142 yards, 13.5 sacks for -98 yards, 11 pass break-ups, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in his career.
As a senior in 2012, Walker earned first-team all-Conference USA merits while compiling 41 tackles and team-bests of 13.5 stops for -75 yards and eight sacks for -57 yards, as well as eight pass break-ups and three forced fumbles. He has also blocked two field goals, coming against North Texas and UCF.
