Grab a bite to eat and help in the fight against AIDS

AIDS Alabama will host Birmingham's third annual "Dining Out for Life" on Thursday, April 26th.  This year, 27 restaurants are taking part in the effort.

"Dining Out for Life" gives hungry folks the chance to fill their bellies for a good cause.  The restaurants which are a part of the event donate 25, 35, or 50% of food sales to local AIDS service organizations.  The proceeds from Birmingham's "Dining Out for Life" will go to AIDS Alabama.

According to a recent study by Southern HIV/AIDS Strategy Initiative, the South has 50% of the newly reported HIV infections.  In Alabama, the new infection rate ranks 11th in the nation.

AIDS Alabama devotes its energy and resources statewide to helping people with HIV/AIDS live healthy, independent lives.  The organization also works to prevent the spread of the disease through education, testing, advocacy and supportive services.  It provides housing for HIV+ individuals and their families.

If you are interested in taking part in "Dining for Life" check out the participating restaurants at or text DOFLBIR to 30364.
