Terell Parks knocked down the game-winning jumper with 26 seconds left as Western Illinois knocked out top-seed Oral Roberts in the semifinals of the Summit League tournament Monday night in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The Leathernecks (18-13) blew a seven point second half lead, then rallied from down eight to shock the Golden Eagles, who had lost only six games all season.
ORU (27-7) led 26-20 late in the first half before Western Illinois scored the last seven points of the first half and the first four of the second half to lead 31-26. The Leatherneck lead would grow to 36-29 before the Golden Eagles ripped off a 20-to-5 run to lead 49-41 on Dominique Morrison's jumper at the eight minute mark.
But, ORU scored just two points and shot 0-for-4 from the field over the game's final 7:21.
Morrison finished with 23 points to lead the Golden Eagles. Warren Niles added 11. Parks led Western Illinois with 14 points.
The loss likely means ORU is NIT bound despite a 27-and-7 record. Meanwhile, Western Illinois is still alive and will play Tuesday night against the winner of the other semifinal game between tournament host South Dakota State and Southern Utah.
