Responding to a call of a dog being trapped under a pier on Lake Hills Dr. in Northport, a Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Deputy observed a dog under the pier that appeared to be caught in the bracing under the pier with his head and front legs on one side of the brace and his back legs and hind-quarters on the other side of the brace.
The dog was partially in the water and seemed as though it had been there for a while.
The Deputy removed his duty belt, uniform shirt, boots and vest and entered the water to try and free "Bandit." The Deputy was able to wade out and swim under the pier freeing "Bandit" from the bracing allowing "Bandit" to get to shore. Once free, "Bandit" did not seem to be harmed and was running and playing with other dogs. The complainant advised that the "Bandit" belonged to one of his neighbors.
