A Jefferson County town rode out the January tornadoes without a tornado siren. There's a concern that others are also without outdoor warnings.
County Line has a tornado siren. But the problem is the employee responsible for installing and maintaining the sirens was put on unpaid leave with more than 700 other employees. It's an staffing issue Jefferson County Commissioner Joe Knight says needs to be addressed immediately.
"We have to rely on them year round, so it's very imperative we address this issue- get this siren up, as well as investigate each and every report of a siren not going off," said Knight.
In light of this problem, Knight is encouraging people to purchase and program weather radios.
