TULSA -- A team was guaranteed to win its first game of the 2012 regular season after Wichita State and Oral Roberts went winless through the first three games.
It was the Shockers in a 10-3 victory over ORU at J.L. Johnson stadium.
Wichita State was off to a fast start with 4 runs in the first inning, including a 3-run homer from Don Lambert.
The Shockers' left-handed pitcher Kris Gardner kept the Golden Eagles hitless through the first four innings.
Then trailing 7-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning, ORU finally scored its first run when Jake O'Brien grounded out to short as part of a 6-3 double play, but still drove in Nate Goro from 3B.
Jared Schleuber added another with a solo home run in the seventh and a Kevin Cho grounding into a double play scored one more in the eighth.
The Golden Eagles drop to 0-4 overall and will host Eastern Michigan for a three game series beginning Friday at 3:00.
