BIRMINGHAM BURGLARIES:

Police are looking for a person of interest in connection with six burglaries inside the Eastwood Building on the 1600 block of Birmingham's Montclair Road Feb. 15 or 16.

Detectives believe the person responsible may have hid in the bathroom or somewhere inside the building until employees left Feb. 15.

The suspect took assorted currency, gold coins, pills, prescription pads and more. Hours later, surveillance video from a Leeds/Moody-area WalMart captures a person of interest on camera. The person of interest was using a credit card stolen from the Eastwood Building.

"He's a stocky, white male and approximately 5'10''," said Birmingham Detective Pat Green. "In my opinion, I think he would reside around the Leeds/Moody area because the WalMart he chose to use was in that area."

He was in a black SUV with a University of Alabama "A" on the back window.

"In the past few months, that area over there has been wide open to burglaries, so this could be a close to more than those six cases," added Detective Green regarding the Montclair Road area.

ALABASTER BURGLARY:

Police are searching for two suspects who broke into the La Rebaja business on the 1600 block of Kent Dairy Road in Alabaster January 22. It happened some time between 1 and 3 am.

"They actually take the cash register itself, which contained 500 dollars in cash, and leave the store," said Sgt. Brian Allison. "One of the suspects comes back again a second time where he ends up taking four cowboy hats valued at $140 each."

The suspects covered themselves well and left very few clues to their identity.

Sgt. Allison added: "This is going to be one of those where we're going to rely on the public to know things. Very rarely do people commit crimes like this without talking about it. This is going to be a situation where if you've heard people talking about it, or if you've heard somebody admit to it, we're going to need to hear from you."
