Neighbors in Need and Project Homeless Connect looking for smiling faces

On any given night, there are over 2,000 homeless individuals in the Jefferson County area. Project Homeless Connect is the first step in a campaign to reduce homelessness in our community. United Way of Central Alabama, The City of Birmingham, One Roof, Hands on Birmingham, and ABC 33/40's Neighbors in Need are working together with other organizations to help end this cycle of homelessness.

Project Homeless Connect needs 700 volunteers on March 10th to be "Smiling Faces" and ensure that the clients get the most out of this day.

Smiling Faces are the first contact clients have at the service center. Their role is crucial in helping engage clients and making them feel welcome. A Smiling Faces' volunteer role is to simply talk with the client, make them feel welcome and comfortable while guiding them to services provided.

This event will be on Saturday, March 10th, 2012 at Boutwell Auditorium (1930 Reverend Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd, Birmingham, AL 35203) with 3 shifts running from 6:30am to 3:30pm.

Shift Times:
6:30am - 11:30am
7:30am - 12:00pm
11:30am - 3:30pm
