TUSCALOOSA - AL -

NOAA will host a groundbreaking ceremony for its National Water Center on the University of Alabama campus in Tuscaloosa. From droughts and floods to water quality and availability, many vital decisions that save lives and enhance the economy rely on timely and reliable water information.

The National Water Center will strengthen water forecasting capabilities through collaboration between NOAA and other government agencies that share water responsibilities, such as the U.S. Geological Survey, and also will enrich relationships with colleges and universities. The National Water Center will serve and benefit the entire nation, addressing complex water problems related to water scarcity, floods, and climate change. It also will improve the nation's ability to manage water resources, prepare for water disasters, and respond to growing water challenges.

The groundbreaking ceremony will be Tuesday, February 21 at 10:00 a.m. at 300 Hackberry Lane.
