ANNISTON - AL -
Chanda Russell, with a bullet lodged in her pelvic area, is still healing, still processing what happened to her.  Following a shooting incident last month, the 27-year old awoke from surgery to be told, to her surprise, she was pregnant. 3 days later she learned she had lost her child.

" Put it in your shoes," said Russell " If you would've gotten shot, you could have been looking forward to a baby in the next 8 months."

Russell says she asked her friend Shronta Clifton for a cigarette. She says the 27-year old told her no, because she owed her $4. An argument broke out, but Russell says she walked away from the confrontation only to have Clifton come back and shoot her.

"It makes me think . It makes me think a lot that you could be that way to somebody," said Russell

Clifton is charged with first degree assault. The charge could be upgraded to murder if medical evidence indicates the miscarriage was triggered by the shooting.

"It's only right," said Russell "I don't why she did that. We were cool. I thought we were better than that."

The mother of two had been hoping to have another child with her new love. Russell says through all of this she chooses to remain optimistic

"I believe in God. I 've got God. I got faith. Everything is going to be alright,."
