BIRMINGHAM - AL -
The Jefferson County courthouse played host to a professional mock trial today. The event was put on by the Balch & Bingham, LLP.
The goal is to give the firm's newest litigation attorneys hands on experience in the courtroom. There were about 100 people participating including people paid to act as jurors and to critique the young attorneys on their skills.
The firm rented the courthouse from Jefferson County for the day to take the young attorneys through every phase of a case.
"We have other lawyers in the firm who observe and help teach so that the client gets the expertise that they need," says Alan Rogers, a partner with Balch and Bingham, LLP.
This is the event's 15th year. Attorneys came from not only the firm's Alabama offices but also from Georgia and Mississippi.
