FORESTDALE HOMICIDE:

Authorities continue to look for those responsible for a Sunday afternoon homicide outside the Jet Pep convenience store on Forestdale Boulevard.

34-year-old Edmund Reed was killed, and the only suspect in the case is 41-year-old Derrick Wayne Murray of Dora.

"There were two people inside the shooter's vehicle," said Sgt. Brian Allison. "We're suspecting right now that Derrick Murray was one of them. We need to find out who the other one was."

Authorities said Murray has several convictions. According to his driver's license, he's 6'2'' and weighs 360 pounds.

"If he's this gutsy to do this in broad daylight, when he gets a little bit of cover, there's no telling what he's done and gotten away with or what he  might do in the future," added Sgt. Allison.

BIRMINGHAM GROCERY STORE ROBBERY:

November 20, 2011, a suspect robbed the Food Smart grocery store on Crestwood Boulevard around 10:30 pm and walked away with approximately $10,000.

Surveillance video shows a black male walking into the grocery store. He took time to purchase an item and walk into the restroom before he held the store clerk at gunpoint and demanded money.

The store clerk described the suspect as a black male between the ages of 19 and 25. On the night of the robbery, he wore black pants and a gray sweatshirt. He did not conceal his face.

"This particular victim got away with no injuries," said Birmingham Detective Pat Green. "But we can't say the next victim wouldn't get away with injuries, so we need to get the guy off the street as quickly as possible."
