Alabama requests more federal disaster aid

Posted: Updated:

The state is seeking more federal aid for 3 counties hit by last month's tornadoes.  The state is asking FEMA to approve grants to help fund debris removal and repair work in Chilton, Jefferson and Perry counties.  The public assistance program pays back local governments for a portion of the cost to clean-up after natural disasters.  The request comes after the federal government's decision to provide grants and low-cost loans for residents and businesses that were hit by the storms in those counties.
