Here's a history lesson long forgotten or never learned. On this day in 1943, shoe rationing began in the United States.
Each civilian was limited to 3 pairs of leather shoes per year. This was in the middle of World War II. The slogan was, "use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without."
Shoe rationing ended 2 years later on this day in 1945.
