Americans still eat way too much salt.

According to U.S. health officials 90 percent of Americans consume too much salt on a daily basis.

A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report indicates that ten types of foods account for 44 percent of salt consumption.

Much of the salt comes from dietary staples such as bread, poultry, cheese and pasta. Other specific foods include deli meats and cured meats; pizza; fresh and processed poultry; soups; cheeseburgers and other sandwiches.

Too much salt, can raise blood pressure, which is linked to heart disease and stroke.
