ETOWAH COUNTY - AL -

About dozen guns and even more ammunition have stolen from multiple law enforcement agencies in Etowah County. Since the Christmas holiday season, 7 Etowah County law enforcement vehicles , taken home by officers, have been broken into. 5 cars,  all over the county, were broken into sometime between midnight Monday and 6 A. M :

     *Etowah County Sheriff's Office and Sardis City Police Department in Reece City

     *Gadsden Police Department on Noccalula Mountain

     *Gadsden Police Department in Hokes Bluff

     *Calhoun County Sheriff's Office in Southside

 

The Calhoun County car was unmarked. Although there has been an unusually high number of car break-ins in the county since late November, Investigators believe this is incident is not random.

Agencies across the county are making adjustments to their take home car policy, including mandating that weapons not be left inside vehicles.
