Lots of people had a message for the UA Board of Trustees Thursday. In addition to Free UAB protesters, opponents of the proposed Shepherd Bend Mine on the Black Warrior River delivered a petition with 6,000 signatures.
They also marched 800 feet. That's significant. It represents the distance between the proposed mine site and a major drinking water intake that services 200,000 Birmingham customers.
