University of Tulsa quarterback G.J. Kinne led his National Team to a 20-14 victory in the AstroTurf NFLPA Collegiate Bowl Game Saturday afternoon at the Home Depot Center. Kinne and teammate, offensive lineman Matt Romine, played for the National Team in the inaugural game.
Kinne rushed for a 20-yard touchdown in the first half to give the National Team a 17-7 halftime lead. Kinne's score gave the National Team a 17-0 lead.
"I just wanted to come in and show that I could compete against the best of the best, and we were able to win the game which was great for us and a matter of pride," told a national TV audience on NBC Sports Network following the contest.
Asked about how he treated the week of practice, Kinne said "It's a balance. Going into it was definitely a business trip. But you want to have fun at that same time. We were able to win so that was the fun part."
