A new study cautions pregnant women about taking anti-depressants.

It suggests that pregnant women who take certain anti-depressants are more likely to deliver babies with high blood pressure.

That's according to British researchers who looked at more than one million births.

They found mothers who take anti-depressants in late pregnancy raises the chance of persistent pulmonary hypertension, an increase in blood pressure in the lungs which can lead to heart failure.

Analysts say the risk is low.

Persistent pulmonary hypertension only occurs in one to three newborns per one-thousand births.

The study appears in the British Medical Journal.
